New Jersey hasn’t been the focal point of much foodie attention these past few years. Outshined by large neighboring cities like Philadelphia and NYC, it’s hard for us little guys to attract the eyes we merit!
It’s been particularly difficult for New Jersey’s hideaway rivertowns, like Frenchtown, to attract their well-deserved tourists. But things have been looking up for Frenchtown in the past few months – drastically.
The floodgates seemed to have opened to foodies when hip eateries began popping up in sequence. With Early Bird Espresso serving the best craft coffee brews for miles and Pulp Cafe + Juice Bar dishing out farm-to-table eats and Picnic By The Canal food-to-go baskets, passersby began to take notice and opt to hang out a minute.
Though Frenchtown has long been a noteworthy stop for the bike enthusiasts taking the canal path on a cool summer day with bikes from Cycle Corner of Frenchtown, we’re now fostering the hype and hoping to attract even more traffic by offering foodie adventures. Delaware River Tubing, recipient of the the NJ Governor’s Tourism Award, has begun offering artisan eats (for the meat and gluten free crowds too!) with their trips down the river. Vegans + omni-foodies alike have been known to delight in this physical and food intensive adventure.
So next time you’re considering a bike trip up canal or a drive along the tree lined route from downtown New Hope, stop by this laid back retreat and let your tastebuds thank you later.
